I haven’t read the Taming of the Shrew but and it’s been a while for Catcher in the Rye (great book though!) but Holden Caulfield was rebellious in that he used bad language knowing that his parents didn’t approve, he smoked, he skipped school, and just overall had a bad attitude/cynical attitude about life in general.
