Can I use bullet points in a College Essay Paper?

I'm in a college writing class. My topic is nutrition and children in poverty. I am stating what the government is doing to help people in poverty. There are 9 short points described. Would it be okay if i put those in bullet point in my essay or no? Or should i just list them and use commas? My final draft is due monday so i cannot ask my teacher. Thanks for the help!

I don’t think so. Why do you need them in bullet form? Why can’t you just write about them and explain each of them?

Unfortunately, it does tend to vary by teacher. But I’d say that as long as you use complete sentences for the bullet points and proper grammatical construction to set them up, you won’t get marked down too badly (if at all) if it turns out your teacher doesn’t like that format.

It doesn’t still hurt to ask the teacher, but I wouldn’t use bullet points. Either use just prose and make sure that your writing is clear (e.g., “There are nine reasons. First, …”) — or use numbered lists that are organized clearly and embedded in prose, like each numbered item / point starts a paragraph.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to use bullet points as it’s a science essay.
