Quote analysis for a paper on 1984 By George Orwell..You Don’t have to have read the book just please help me?

okay im writing a paper on 1984 by george orwell's 1984. this is what i have so far... "Privacy is not something that we are entitled to, it’s an absolute prerequisite" -Marlon Brando. Everyday privacy is dwindling, because everyday things are developed that break down more and more walls of confidentiality. Big Brother is an example of totalitarianism at its worst. Everything is monitored, and nothing is sacred. There is no such thing as a secret or privacy. By exploring an alternative world ruled by an imaginary figure, George Orwell’s novel 1984 exposes many injustices that lay ahead as while technological advances are made. Today people get excited about technology advances, but one day will it become too much? Now people think that it is impossible for the government to listen to our thoughts, and it’s against the law for the government to put cameras in private homes. How can anyone be sure that 10 years from now our world won’t be the world George Orwell imagined? In the future we may have to "live… in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized (Orwell 3)". [Insert quote analysis]how do i analyze the quote...? or at least where should i start...am i off to a good start?

One Answer to “Quote analysis for a paper on 1984 By George Orwell..You Don’t have to have read the book just please help me?”

  1. engrandizement says:

This is a good start to your essay, and a very nice paragraph as well. When you analyze this quote, add some themes that are also evident in the novel, such as the lack of privacy. You can add something about all people living with mistrust with the government, as the government tries to control all aspects of life. Add the fact that people will feel a sense of insecurity because they know that if they make one small step, then they will definitely by vaporized. You could add that if we had to live with these feelings which you mentioned above, it would change human nature completely. Person A won’t trust his neighbor, Person B might get suspicious if their parents start having dreams (mentioned in the novel), Person C knows that he is not allowed to question anything that he has learned in his life, etc. etc.
