Bloody Mary’s a fun one cause you can make it happen. Damnable mirrors. Stare at yourself without moving your gaze for like 10 minutes and try to remember its just a hallucination. Most urban legends come from children’s fears that htey half remember compounded by evil adults like myself.

Hi Rebecca, Urban Legends In this paper I will explain exactly what an urban legend is,andgive some examples of very popular ones that have been passed byword of mouth for decades across the United States. 1 ” An urban legend is a story that is so bizarre, horrifying, orunexplainable, that it makes something inside of us want to believeit.” Urban Legends can have traced origins from other countries, universities, states, or people, that just decided to made up asincredible story and pass it on to their friends and family members. Many of these legends were started in the sixties and seventies, and still continue to be passed on to this day. A good example, isthe horrifying Pop Rocks death. 2″In the seventies ,school kidspassed on the rumor that if Pop Rocks candy was eaten with anykind of soda, the person’s insides would explode”. A legend thateventually forced the candy company company to prove as untrue. Most urban legends are began with “friend of a friend”, which isa key in realizing that what you are going to hear is probably untrue. When I was in second grade, a famous legend was passed tome, the story of the ”well to Hell”. Reportedly, down in Mexico, agroup of men were drilling holes in the ground looking for oil. Theseholes were thousands of feet deep, and the men heard horrifyingscreams coming from the depths below. Supposedly thesethese terrible sounds were coming from Hell. This story causedmuch debate among the Christian community, and was repeatingin news letters, and radio talk shows around the country. Eventually,an urban legend investigator traced the story to a school teacherwho admitted that she made the whole thing up. Read more here: [external link] …

There are many motifs or themes in Urban Legends. One is the Vanishing Hitchhiker. In one of the many different versions of it, a man is driving his car on a stormy evening, when he sees a girl standing beside the road. He stops and offers her a ride. She gives him an address in the next city as her home. She sits in the back seat and is silent during the ride. When he reaches the address she gave him, he stops and tells her she is home. She does not reply, so he turns around and sees she is gone. He goes to the house and knocks on the door. A man opens the door, and the man in the car tells him about giving a girl a ride to his house that she said was her home. The man in the house says that his daughter was killed in an automobile accident years ago on this day, that several men have tried to give her rides home, and she always vanishes during the ride.
