Footnote HELP!?

i am completing an essay for history and my teacher is asking for atleast three footnotes.i haven't done footnotes before and i was wondering if i could footnote canada's charter of rights and freedoms?if so, how? thank-youu!

    Yes you can. . .a footnote is basically adding “*” at a phrase, word,etc. to clarify what it means. . .For example “Un Chien*” – footnote at the bottom of the page “* – a dog”. . .if the reader had no idea what that means. . .they can refer to the footnote. . .
